About ME

Storytelling became a lifeline for me, growing up in Appalachia Virginia as a daughter of immigrants.  An outsider looking in, stories became both a way to understand as well as how to navigate the larger world around me, and also imagine a world outside my own.  

Across my work, I have come to understand that how we make theatre is a model for how we can and should live. Theatre asks us to begin from abundance, collaboration, playfulness, curiosity, and joy. It asks us to honor the distinct gifts of every member of the ensemble and to make space for the most imaginative and vulnerable parts of ourselves. When practiced with intention, theatre-making becomes a blueprint for a more compassionate and connected world. My artistic and educational philosophy centers this belief: the artist is a citizen, and the rehearsal room is a site of ethical, creative, and civic engagement.  Throughout my career, I have worked to advance a more equitable field and to foster agility in a changing world—within institutions, on national platforms, and through the projects and people I champion.
